When a product contains water, it's legally necessary to include ingredients that keep the product safe and stable over a long period of time and under different temperature conditions.

Without these ingredients, bacteria, mould, and fungi could grow.

We have carefully chosen nature-identical alternatives to mainstream chemicals as we endevour to making sure our products are as safe as possible.

You can read about them below:

Glyceryl Stearate is a waxy ingredient that is obtained from coconuts, palm kernels, or olives. It is usually pale yellow or white in color. Glyceryl Stearate is used in skin care and cosmetic products because of its great moisturizing properties. It traps moisture on the skin and hair to prevent dehydration and damage. Moreover, glyceryl stearate also binds other ingredients together in a formulation

Cetearyl Alcohol is a mixture of stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol forming a waxy, white mixture to be used in cosmetics. This chemical is used to bring smoothness and thickness to the products while also providing hydrating properties. While most alcohols are drying for the skin, cetearyl alcohol traps water and treats skin dryness.

Dehydroacetic Acid is an organic compound primarily serving as a preservative in cosmetics and the personal care industry. It fights off the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and mold in products, thus increasing the shelf life. Further, it is a safe ingredient and is well tolerated by most skin types

Benzyl Alcohol is an organic alcohol that occurs naturally in some fruits and teas. Recent studies have found that topically applied benzyl alcohol might help wound healing by promoting collagen production, although it is not its primary function in cosmetic products. Its chief function in cosmetics is as a preservative, and it’s among the least sensitising preservatives in use. Benzyl alcohol works well as a preservative because it has both antibacterial and antifungal properties.
