About the event

"The British flag is sewn with the thread of the colonised, Britannia rests her head on pillows made from Coffee, Cotton, Sugar, Tea, Rubber and Tobacco. The story of greed, corruption and exploitation starts with a money trail that leads into the heart of London.

The profits gained from chattel slavery helped to finance the Industrial Revolution and the Caribbean islands became the hub of the British Empire. The sugar colonies were Britain's most valuable colonies.

This walking tour follows the hidden story of one of Britain’s first Slave Traders, London's first stocks and bonds, and the blood money trail of the Lloyds family, and how they grew rich from the fees and interest they earned from merchants involvement in the handling of slaves"

Although this is not the first event I had in mind to host with ABATUMM, in light of recent global events, we felt it was important…
